Riding the Wave of Innovation: Highlights from the Boardroom Show in Del Mar
What an incredible weekend at the Boardroom show in Del Mar, California! We’re still buzzing from the energy, innovation, and community spirit that filled the event. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our ECOBOARD partners for generously sharing their time, knowledge, and equipment in our booth. Your support made all the difference!
One standout at our booth was Verdure Surf, whose innovative technology caught everyone’s eye. They’ve successfully blended high performance with a significant reduction in waste and toxicity, allowing shapers everywhere to integrate their designs with the Verdure Blanks process. It’s a game-changer in the world of sustainable surfing.
In exciting news, Polyola Surf announced a partnership with Arctic Foam that promises a greener alternative to traditional PU blanks. By utilizing recycled packaging waste, they’ve achieved an impressive 73% reduction in CO2 emissions—something to celebrate!
We were also thrilled to showcase a stylish mid twin from Channel Islands Surfboards, which added a touch of flair to our display. And let’s not forget Grow Blanks and Agave Brothers Ranch, who showcased a variety of new agave blanks alongside some stunning shapes from Gary Linden, Jones Surfboards, and Illuminate Surfcraft. These boards turned heads and sparked conversations!
The wooden board revolution is in full swing, with Bosiny unveiling gorgeous performance-focused boards. Funner Surf is making waves too, cleverly merging 3D printing technology with traditional wood construction. It’s exciting to see such creativity in the surfboard industry!
We’re stoked that Polyola blanks are now available in the USA through their partnership with Arctic Foam, one of the largest surfboard foam producers in the world. Board builders in Europe, the USA and elsewhere can build high performance surfboards using Polyola PU foam blanks.
Last but certainly not least, we had the pleasure of featuring the unofficial upcycling master, ECOBOARDS by Ryan Harris, who brought along some eye-catching sleds that were nothing short of impressive.
A big high five to Scott Bass for all your hard work in bringing this amazing community together! Congratulations to Michael Arenal of Arenal Surfboards for taking top honors in the Bob McTavish “Icons of Foam” shape-off. Your craftsmanship truly shines!
We’re already looking forward to next year’s show and can’t wait to see what innovations the community will bring. Until then, let’s continue to ride the wave of sustainability and creativity in surfing!
